Kids' yoga · ages 2 to 14

Shoes off. Sit tall. Breathe like you mean it.

Class begins at four o'clock sharp, and for the next forty-five minutes we will do absolutely nothing in a hurry.

What we practice

Three things, practiced daily

Stillness

One whole minute without wiggling. It is harder than it sounds, and we will get there together, one breath at a time.

Strength

Tree pose, warrior pose, and the very serious business of balancing on one foot while giggling.

Kindness

To the friend on the next mat, to the frog in the pond, and to ourselves when we tip over. Everybody tips over.

The classes

Grouped by age, so every little one is challenged and nobody is bored. Mats, blocks and patience provided.

Ages 2–4 · with a grown-up

Tadpoles

Thirty minutes of animal poses, songs and wiggling with purpose. Grown-ups join in. No exceptions, and no sitting on the bench.

Ages 5–7

Lily Pads

Balance, breath and the noble art of sitting still for one entire minute. Forty-five minutes, with a story at the end.

Ages 8–11

Frogs

Stronger poses, partner work, and calm-down tools they can carry into a spelling test.

Ages 12–14

Big Blooms

Stretching, strength and quiet for the overbooked middle schooler. Phones rest in the basket by the door.

Wiggles welcome

Every class ends the same way: a high five for the friend on the next mat.

In between, little ones learn to balance, to breathe, and to listen to their own bodies and to each other. Miss June keeps the room calm, the rules few, and the giggles plentiful.

Your teacher

Meet Miss June

Twenty years teaching third grade. One summer in Costa Rica. One very good idea.

Miss June spent two decades at the front of a classroom, believing in good posture, raised hands and inside voices. Then she spent a summer in Costa Rica learning yoga from a teacher who laughed more than anyone she had ever met, and came home with sand in her suitcase and a plan.

She still believes in good posture, raised hands and inside voices. She has simply added deep breaths.

LOTUS stands for Little Ones Taking Up Space. Miss June will explain, at length, if you ask.

Your first class

  1. Save a mat

Choose a class and send the short form. Miss June confirms within a day.

  2. Arrive ten minutes early

Shoes go in the cubby, water bottles go by the wall, and everyone gets a name tag.

  3. Breathe and play

Poses, games and a story. Grown-ups can peek through the window, quietly.

  4. A sticker on the way out

Plus a short note about what we practiced, so the calm can follow them home.

Pura vida, little ones.

Mats are rolled out, the tea is steeping, and there is a cubby with your name on it.
